Effect of Pregnancy on Bone Age

Objective: Age estimation for forensic purposes has an important place among daily Forensic Medicine services. Although many factors affect skeletal development, hormonal are the most influencing factors. With this study, it is aimed to contribute literature on subject by detecting any changes in development of bone age with effect during pregnancy.
 Materials and Methods: Cases referred our Çukurova University Polyclinic between March 2017 2021 request authorities estimate age, who declared that date birth their official documents was correct; gender, identity at marriage, having children, reasons asking estimation, claim which they were, ages determined were recorded, evaluations cases made according Greulich-Pyle Gilsanz-Ratib Atlases.
 Results: According examinations made, 70 included study accordance criteria, 35 (50%) had reported no children never a pregnancy. Consistently, observed 9 (12.9%) evaluated as larger than population registry 1 case younger registry. It 7 whose found be greater identification pregnant, 2 did not become pregnant all registry.
 Conclusion: very evaluate objective, standardized, multidisciplinary careful way. For reason, we suggest diseases may situations body such pregnancy, personal should evaluated, approach consisting radiology medicine physicians.
